Cheerio was our faithful companion and friend

She was always close by us even till the end.

We loved her and cared for her every day               

And she was happy and loving, that was her way

She gave us laughter, she gave us joy

When she was younger she gave us her toy.

We were not ready when it was time for her to go

She was a light in our life, we loved her so.

Life was not the same once she was gone

She was not here for us to call upon

We miss her paws clicking across the tile floor

She was no longer there to meet us at the door

We know now she is safe up above

We know also she is surrounded with love

She will never be gone 'cause she'll live in our hearts

It will seem a long time while we are apart

But some day in Heaven we will see her again

Where we all will meet as one - animal and men

She will run to greet us ears high, tail wagging

We too will run and never be lagging.
